Ram Trucks Australia has recalled 658 examples of the 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty pickup twins, due to a fault which can lead to reduced braking capacity.

“The brake Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) may fail or malfunction. As a result, the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Traction Control System may not operate as intended,” Ram said in its [recall notice](https://www.vehiclerecalls.gov.au/recalls/rec-000008?ref=torquecafe.com).

“This may result in a reduced braking performance and a loss of vehicle control.

“A reduction in braking performance and/or a loss of vehicle control could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

Affecting 2017 and 2018 model year versions of the pickups, the brand says there is no remedy currently available for the fault, though it will contact owners once one is available.

At that time, owners will need to schedule an appointment with their preferred Ram dealer to have the work carried out, free of charge.

A list of affected Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) can be found [here](https://www.vehiclerecalls.gov.au/sites/default/files/recall-files/REC-000008-VIN-List-1.xlsx?ref=torquecafe.com).

Since going on sale in Australia in 2016, Ram’s heavy-duty 2500 and 3500 pickups have been recalled more than 30 times locally.
