Based on the T6 platform which underpins the Ranger and Everest in Australia, the Bronco is only sold in North America, but it’s consistently one of Ford’s most popular models in the region, taking customers away from the Jeep Wrangler by offering a similar off-road focused experience. That includes its larger front grille, revised roof rails, wheel-arches and belt line, while its front bumper also has integrated tow hooks, and at the back there’s a top-hinged tailgate, rather than the swing gate currently fitted to the Bronco. As reported by [*Automotive News*](https://www.autonews.com/car-concepts/future-product/an-ford-future-product-0819/?ref=torquecafe.com) last month, the insiders claimed the Bronco-based pickup will be built at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant, current home of production for the North American-market Bronco SUV and Ranger. Expected to marry the off-road capability of the Bronco with the Lincoln design language, specifically the Navigator, it’s understood it would be pitched as a rival to premium 4x4s on the market, and potentially replace the Lincoln Nautilus in the brand’s mid- to large-sized SUV lineup. Ford’s launch of the [Bronco Filson in June](https://torquecafe.com/ford-targets-land-rover-defender-with-raptor-powered-bronco-filson/) is understood to be a test of the demand for a more luxurious off-roader from the brand.
