# Chinese giant adds another SUV to Australia through start-up brand

The expansion of Chery’s Australian operations is continuing, with the iCaur V25 to become its latest local offering, amid an increasingly saturated lineup.

Revealed in China last week, the iCaur V25 (sold in its local market under the iCar brand) will be the first vehicle from the start-up brand to reach Australia, joining existing Chery marques, from its namesake brand, to Omoda Jaecoo, Lepas (later in 2026), Freelander (2027) and Jetour (2027).

Planned to arrive in Australia from early 2027, Chery will show off the iCaur V25 at next month’s Everything Electric Sydney show, running from September 18 to 20, where it’s expected more information will be revealed.

iCaur V25

For now, official details are thin regarding the V25, however Chinese media, such as [*CarNewsChina*](https://carnewschina.com/2026/08/14/cherys-icaur-v25-released-in-china-ahead-of-global-launch/?ref=torquecafe.com), have given an insight on what to expect from the SUV.

Measuring 4636mm long, 1920mm wide and 1855mm tall on a 2820mm wheelbase, it’s right in the wheelhouse of most of Australia’s popular mid-sized SUV offerings, such as the Toyota RAV4, which is 36mm shorter and 65mm narrower, but has a 130mm shorter wheelbase.

With approach and departure angles of 30 and 28 degrees, respectively, the V25 is perhaps more off-road friendly than the majority of rivals, though it’s understood to remain underpinned by a monocoque chassis.

iCaur V25

Its 378-litre boot can expand to 998 litres with the rear seats folded, meanwhile iCaur says both the second and first rows fold flat.

According to *CarNewsChina*, the local market iCaur V25 is powered by dual electric motors are fed by a 33.68kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, charged by a 115kW turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine in its range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) layout.

The V25 could have an electric-only driving range of approximately 150km, as well as a towing capacity of circa-1800kg, putting it on the lighter side of the market, though still plenty capable for most buyers.
