Aston Martin celebrates turning 110

Aston Martin brought together one of its oldest cars – Razor Blade – with one of its newest – the Valkyrie – to mark its 110th anniversary in 2023

Aston Martin has announced plans for a series of limited edition models in 2023 to celebrate the brand’s 110th anniversary.

And to kick-off the year long celebration of the milestone, the company brought together two of its most iconic cars – the 1923 Razor Blade and the latest Valkyrie.

The Razor Blade was one of the brand’s first purpose-built racing cars and set several class records at the famous Brooklands circuit in England. The Valkyrie is the brand’s first true hypercar and was designed in collaboration with famed Formula One designer Adrian Newey and Red Bull Technologies (the technical outfit behind Red Bull Racing and Alpha Tauri).

Aston Martin was founded in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford, a pair of car dealers from London who made their first car and named it after the Aston Hill Martin raced at.

“In 1913 Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford came together with a shared vision of racing cars and using learnings from the racetrack to push the boundaries of automotive innovation,” said Amedeo Felisa, current Aston Martin Lagonda CEO.

“110 years and little over 110,000 cars later, that spirit continues. Our 110th year promises to be just as exciting as our first, as we turn a new chapter in Aston Martin history with the launch of our next generation of sports cars and the reveal of an extraordinary special model later this year that will celebrate this unique milestone.”

It will be a big year for the brand because it will also mark 75 years since the first ‘DB’ model, when David Brown took control of the company and ushered in arguably its golden age with models such as the iconic DB5 (which celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2023) and won Le Mans in 1959 with Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori driving a DBR1/300.

Aston Martin will launch a global marketing campaign called ‘Intensity: 110 Years in the Making’ to celebrate the occasion and has major events planned for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
