In the long and illustrious history of the Ford Mustang the Fox Body ‘Stang is a cult favourite. Not as stylish as the original, and with some questionable design during its 14-year lifespan, the Fox Body Mustang is nevertheless a beloved version of the iconic pony car by a certain group of muscle car fans.
And it seems Ken Block is one of them.
The rally driver and internet superstar has teased his latest creation – a Fox Body Mustang that has been given a Mad Max-style makeover. Block released a number of teaser images of his new wheels ahead of a video reveal tomorrow (Friday Australian time), which clearly hit at a Fox Body but with some very dramatic changes. There’s a large bonnet scoop, wider front and rear guards and a serious-looking side pipe.

The third-generation Mustang was built between 1979 and 1993 and while it was never officially sold in Australia, local fans will remember it as the version raced by Dick Johnson in the ‘80s. The nickname is derived from the Fox platform that Ford used to try and underpin as many new models as possible during this period – including Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles.
The new Mustang will join Block’s 1965 Ford Mustang ‘Hoonicorn’ and 1977 Ford F-150 ‘Hoonitruck’ as well as his 1991 Ford Escort Cosworth in his collection of remarkable blue oval vehicles.
