Just when you thought Lamborghini was done with the Huracán, it finds another way to make it special. The Italian supercar maker has revealed an all-new take on the V10 machine, the Huracán Tecnica, that fills the gap between the ‘standard’ Huracán Evo and the track-focused Huracán STO.
Lamborghini calls it the ideal combination of “lifestyle fun and driving performance on road and track” which positions it to take on the likes of the McLaren 765LT, Porsche 911 GT3 and Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.
“The Huracán Tecnica condenses Lamborghini’s design and engineering expertise to create the perfect fun-to-drive Huracán, as compelling when driving to the race circuit as it is on the street itself,” explained Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini chairman and CEO. “The Tecnica ensures that the pilot enjoys the strongest connection to the car and asphalt, with the car’s potential always at his fingertips for ease of use in every driving mode and environment: in an era of virtual experiences it pays homage to technical purity and physical sensation. The Tecnica completes the Huracán line-up, sitting perfectly between the RWD and the track-focused STO, flawlessly presenting technology, performance and the Huracán’s V10 aspirated engine in a dramatically evolved design.”
The Huracán Tecnica is powered by the same 5.2-litre V10 as the rest of the range and is tuned to make 470kW of power and 565Nm of torque, the same as the STO. It also shares the same rear-wheel drive layout as the STO to create a more driver-focused experience.
Lamborghini has revised the aerodynamics of the Huracán Tecnica, giving it a very different look to the rest of the range. It features elements inspired by the Sian and Essenza SCV12 including a new front bumper, front splitter, side intakes, rear window and rear bumper.
The company claims this revised design not only gives the Tecnica a “predatory stance” but also improves rear downforce by a massive 35 per cent compared to the Huracán EVO RWD. Drag has also been reduced by 20 per cent.
Inside the cabin features a new lightweight door design, an optional racing harness for those who regularly hit the track and a new infotainment system.
The Huracán Tecnica will be able to be put through Lamborghini’s Ad Personam program, so owners can personalise their car with more than 200 paint colours, plus new interior trim options designed specifically for this model.
UPDATE: Lamborghini Australia has confirmed the Tecnica is due to arrive in Australia in late 2023, priced from $440,900 (plus on-road costs).
