It’s bigger than a Toyota LandCruiser and packing a Chevrolet 6.2-litre V8 – meet the 2025 GMC Yukon.

Due to arrive in Australia next year as part of an expanding General Motors Specialty Vehicles portfolio, the Yukon is the flagship of the GMC line-up. Revealed in Detroit, the new Yukon brings fresh design but remains based on the same underpinnings as the Chevrolet Silverado, helping it dwarf the LandCruiser (5.3m to 4.9m in length).

Thanks to the V8 engine (which will likely be the last in the segment when the new V6 Nissan Patrol launches) and its pickup truck platform, the Denali has a 3800kg towing capacity in US specification; more than the 3500kg offered by the LandCruiser.

GMSV hasn’t announced pricing and final specifications for the Australian-bound Yukon, but have confirmed they will offer the highly equipped Denali trim line, exclusively. This means the V8 will be paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission, it will have standard seating for eight, a 15-inch head-up display, heated and ventilated front seats and either 22- or 24-inch alloy wheels.

The 6.2-litre V8 is good for 313kW and 620Nm, and while a 3.0-litre turbo diesel will be available in the US, GMSV is sticking to a V8-only line-up here.

As we reported earlier this year, GMSV has already been testing this new model in Australia, in right-hand drive form, since April. The cars will be manufactured left-hand drive in the USA and converted locally by Premoso, a division of the Walkinshaw Automotive Group.
