Electrification and augmented reality are the headline elements of the second-generation Porsche Macan. But for the brand’s driving purists don’t worry that the famous sports car maker has lost its dynamic edge.
“Our aim is to offer the sportiest model in its segment with the all-electric Macan,” says Jörg Kerner, the vice president of Macan product line.
To achieve that the designers have equipped this all-new Macan with its latest 800-volt electric vehicle architecture and have built it around the newly developed Premium Platform Electric (PPE).

Porsche has only revealed details for the first two variants, the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo, but both sound suitably sporty. The Macan 4 is equipped with 300kW of power and 650Nm of torque, enough for this five-seat mid-size SUV to run 0-100km/h in just 5.2 seconds. The Macan Turbo ups the ante with 470kW and 1130Nm and a 0-100km/h claim of just 3.3 seconds.

For added ‘wow factor’ and usability, Porsche is offering augmented reality (AR) for the first time, with an optional head-up display that can display virtual elements on the real world background.

The all-new Macan is due in Australia before the end of the year, with Porsche Australia confirming a “late 2024” launch. Prices will start at $133,700 for the Macan 4 and $180,100 for the Macan Turbo. For context, the current, petrol-powered, Macan range begins at $93,800 for the entry-grade model and runs to $141,700 for the Macan GTS variant.
