The Porsche Cayenne has entered the final phase of its internal combustion era, with the German brand revealing the updated model at this week’s Shanghai Motor Show.
Due to be replaced in 2026 by an all-new electric model, this mid-life update for the large SUV likely represents the last major change for the petrol powertrains. Thankfully, it’s a good one.
The Cayenne S has had its previous turbocharged V6 engine replaced by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, making 349kW of power and 600Nm of torque. The entry-level Cayenne is still powered by a 3.0-litre V6 that now makes 260kW and 500Nm, which is a 10kW/50Nm boost of the out-going model. The V6 engine is also used in the Cayenne E-Hybrid, with a more powerful electric motor helping bump its performance to a total of 346kW.
The Cayenne has also been given upgraded suspension, with Porsche Active Suspension Management and new dampers included on all models.
Porsche Australia has confirmed the improved Cayenne is available to order now, with deliveries beginning in the third quarter of 2023.
