Red Bull has announced its maiden hypercar project, of which just 50 will be produced, starting 2025.
The high-performance arm of the business, Red Bull Advanced Technologies, is behind the concept, with technical ace Adrian Newey leading the charge from Milton Keynes.
Named the RB17, the two-seater will feature a V8 hybrid engine generating more than 1100bhp and will be priced from AUD $8.8m (GBP £5M, pre-tax).
“The RB17 distills everything we know about creating championship-winning Formula 1 cars into a package that delivers extreme levels of performance in a two-seat track car,” said Newey, Red Bull’s chief technical officer.
“Driven by our passion for performance at every level, the RB17 pushes design and technical boundaries far beyond what has been previously available to enthusiasts and collectors.”
Group CEO Christian Horner hailed the landmark initiative.
“The RB17 marks an important milestone in the evolution of Red Bull Advanced Technologies, now fully capable of creating and manufacturing a series production car at our Red Bull Technology Campus,” said Horner.
“Further, the RB17 marks the first time that a car wearing the Red Bull brand has been available to collectors.”
Red Bull is this year hunting a sixth Formula 1 world drivers’ championship, with Max Verstappen sitting atop the standings heading into this weekend’s British Grand Prix.
