Alfa Romeo has finally unveiled its long-awaited new supercar – and it is simultaneously the brand’s last petrol-powered model and its first all-electric car.
The new 33 Stradale takes inspiration from the Italian brand’s iconic supercar from the 1960s, but is loaded with the latest technology and has been fine-tuned by Formula 1 ace, Valtteri Bottas.
Revealed overnight in Italy, the 33 Stradale is also the first in a series of “custom-built” cars that Alfa Romeo will begin producing as it transitions to an all-electric future. The so-called fuoriserie series will reportedly follow the same formula as this new model, featuring modern technology as well as a nod to the brand’s rich heritage.

“With the new 33 Stradale, we wanted to create something that lived up to our past, to serve the brand and to make the Alfisti fandom proud,” said Jean-Philippe Imparato, Alfa Romeo CEO. “Such a result could only have been achieved thanks to the expertise, hard work and passion of our team, with the support of management who have the clear ambition to contribute to writing chapters in the brand’s future, in full respect of its unique history. This is the brand’s first “fuoriserie” (custom-built) car since 1969, and I promise it won’t be the last.”
Alfa Romeo will only build 33 examples of this new supercar and all have reportedly been spoken for, with would-be customers shown concept sketches of the car at the 2022 Italian Grand Prix. This is despite the car carrying a $3.3 million price tag.

The 33 owners will be able to choose what powertrain they want, with the choice of a twin-turbo V6 petrol engine or a tri-motor electric set-up (similar to what sister-brand Maserati offers in its MC20 supercar). The V6 is good for 484kW of power while the electric option bumps that up to 559kW, and Alfa Romeo claims both versions will run 0-100km/h in under 3.0 seconds and have a top speed of 333km/h.
Alfa Romeo’s F1 star Bottas has been drafted in to help the engineers tune the car at Alfa Romeo’s famous Balocco test track, which the brand claims will help bring “F1 experience into everyday driving and ensuring the unmistakable handling of an Alfa Romeo.”
