This is Ford's most important new model

Ford Australia has added another famous American badge to its local line-up.

The new Ranger Tremor is a limited edition addition to the range, borrowing the badge used on both the F-150 and Maverick utes in the USA, but used in Australia for the first time. The Tremor combines elements of both the popular Sport model and the limited run Wildtrak X to create a more rugged member to the family with full-time four-wheel drive and a new off-road wheel and tyre package.

The Ranger is Ford’s best-selling model in Australia, by some margin, accounting for more than 67 per cent of the brand’s total sales in the first half of 2024. Ensuring it stays popular and relevant is therfore crucial to the brand’s overall success, so creating buzz and excitement around the Ranger with limited edition models is a core part of Ford’s plan.

Only 1150 examples of the Ranger Tremor will be offered to Australian customers, and all will be powered by the 2.0-litre four-cylinder twin-turbo diesel engine paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. In addition to the full-time four-wheel drive, the Ranger Tremor also gets Ford’s Trail Turn Assist, Rock Crawl and Trail Control modes for better off-road performance.

Ford has also given the Tremor a suspension overhaul, adding Bilstein position-sensitive dampers with external reservoirs, heavy-duty electronic power steering and new springs that help add a further 26mm of ground clearance.

The Tremor also comes fitted with new 17-inch Asphalt Black alloy wheels fitted with General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres and new wheel arch mouldings, adding 30mm of track width.

Other additions include Tremor badging and styling elements, a honeycomb grille with auxiliary LED lights, a front steel bash plate, cast aluminium side steps and a sports bar.

The Ranger Tremor will be priced from $69,690 (plus on-road costs), which puts it in between the $66,140 Sport 2.0 and the Wildtrak 2.0, which starts at $69,640.

“The Tremor takes the highlights of Wildtrak X and combines them with the Sport series, resulting in a more budget-friendly off-road warrior that’s ready-to-go for the adventures that hard-working Aussies love.”
