VIDEO: KTM RC 8C track-day special revealed

If you’ve ever wanted to ride like Miguel Oliveira or Brad Binder, now’s your chance.

KTM has just released the new RC 8C, a purpose-built track bike that combines elements of the 890 Duke R with a bespoke, track-tuned chassis. Think of it as the two-wheel equivalent of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport, with racing technology available to members of the public – as long as you can afford it.

The KTM RC 8C features a steel tubular frame with WP Pro suspension at either end and it’s covered in carbon Kevlar reinforced bodywork. Underneath is a 889cc twin that makes 95kW (128hp) that’s been proven in the 890 Duke R.

The KTM RC 8C is built for track use only

But that’s only the beginning of the engineering work KTM has put into this track-only bike. It rolls on Dymag wheels fitted with Pirelli SC1 slick tyres and features race-spec Brembo brakes.

This is a track-only bike and only 100 examples will be built worldwide, so it will only appeal to those who appreciate the finest in two-wheel track action. If you’re really feeling confident on track, KTM is offering 25 customers the chance to attend a track day with KTM’s MotoGP test riders, Dani Pedrosa and Mika Kallio at Jerez in Spain and an option Race Track Package for the bike. This package includes an extra set of Dymag wheels, an extra set of tracks, paddock stands, tyre warmers and even ‘KTM Race carpet’ for the full experience. Sadly the current pandemic situation is likely to make attending the Spanish ride day difficult, but it’s nice to dream.
