Hoonigan Indy Truck

What do you get when you combine the minds of Honda’s Indycar program and the creative team at Hoonigan? The answer is the Hoonigan Indy Truck, a wild, one-of-a-kind creation that was revealed late in 2022 and on display at last weekend’s Indianapolis 500.

The Indy Truck began life as a Honda Ridgeline, the Japanese brand’s US-only ute that competes with the Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma, but finished up as something very very different.

Honda Performance Division gave the Hoonigan team one of its 2.2-litre turbocharged V6 engines that’s usually found in the back of a Dallara Indycar, which they’re mounted in the middle of the Ridgeline, where the tray normally is.

But instead of hiding the engine away, there’s no excessive rear bodywork so the engine is on full display. There is some bodywork at the rear though, a massive rear wing that matches the redesigned front bodywork that was created by Honda’s North American Design Centre.

Some of the other upgrades include the carbon ceramic brakes from the Honda NSX supercar, as well as its front suspension set-up.
