# Mercedes-Benz recalls its most expensive cars in Australia

Mercedes-Benz Australia has recalled 192 examples of the S-Class, including in Maybach guise, after it was discovered the front brake hoses could leak fluid.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the front axle brake hoses may become damaged over time. If this occurs it could lead to a brake fluid leak resulting in reduced braking performance," the carmaker said in its [recall notice](https://www.vehiclerecalls.gov.au/recalls/rec-006757?ref=torquecafe.com).

“A reduction in braking performance could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

The recall impacts examples of the S-Class built between 2022 and 2024, with a full list of affected Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) available [here](https://www.vehiclerecalls.gov.au/sites/default/files/recall-files/REC-006757-VIN-List-1.csv?ref=torquecafe.com).

When new, the Mercedes-Maybach S680 was priced from $576,600 before on-road costs, making it the dearest car the brand sold in Australia at the time.

Mercedes-Benz has told owners to contact their preferred dealer to have the work carried out, free of charge.
