US tuners and car manufacturers have gone all-out for this year’s SEMA show, with the 2026 exhibition showcasing some incredible builds.

While we couldn’t be there – on account of being on the other side of the world – there have been plenty of headline-grabbing, eye-catching cars on display.

With hundreds of cars to choose from it’s hard to narrow it down to a list of five, but these are the builds which either stood out or deserve respect for their efforts.

## Rob Dahm 13-rotor, quad-turbo Mazda MX-5

To those familiar with Rob Dahm, the rotary specialist needs no introduction, but if this is your first time hearing about him, then what better way to be initiated than with his classic NA Mazda MX-5 (Miata).

Driven by a turbocharged single-rotor engine, that one spinning triangle wasn’t enough for Dahm, who decided to lump a 12-rotor engine with three extra turbochargers on top of it.

The bigger engine is reportedly capable of making more than 3350kW, and although it does run, it wasn’t used to get the MX-5 into SEMA, and doesn’t drive the wheels.

Still, the pure visuals of the huge engine sticking out of an original MX-5 has captivated audiences not only at the show but also online, cementing Dahm as one of the wildest creators in the nation.

## S Klub LA’s McLaren 750S-based Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR tribute

The Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR is a legend in its own right, having won the 1997 and 1998 FIA GT Championships, before it was dropped for the flight-happy CLK LM.

While you’d expect Mercedes itself to pay tribute to its last endurance racing champion, S Klub LA has done so in an unexpected fashion, remodeling the McLaren 750S to look like the 1990s racer.

The unbelievable conversion, called Game Over, has the design hallmarks of both the McLaren and the Mercedes, with its side profile showing off its 750S roots, while the front and rear are unmistakably CLK GTR.

What results is a truly unique creation that no one is likely to replicate, and one that will stun carspotters no matter where it goes.

## Nissan’s Datsun S30 Concept

Nissan and three-time Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg have brought the classic 280Z coupe into the modern era with the [Datsun S30 Concept](https://torquecafe.com/car-news-nissan-z-powered-datsun-s30-concept-sema/).

Forsberg removed the classic coupe’s 2.8-litre straight-six engine, with the twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 from the new Z put in its place, complete with a matching six-speed manual transmission.

To keep the extra outputs under control, the suspension has been comprehensively reworked, now featuring front and rear coilovers, a new crossmember, steering rack, control arms, sway bars, and strut tower bars, all of which were supplied by Techno Toy Tuning.

Wilwood six-piston front and four-piston rear brake calipers sit behind the 17-inch Nismo LM-RS6 wheels, wrapped in high-performance 245-wide tyres.

The exterior of the Nissan 280Z has also been gone over, with carbon-fibre wheel-arches, a new bonnet, air dam, bumpers, rear hatch and spoiler hidden by the Seiran Blue paintwork, while inside there’s OMP classic bucket seats matching the new door cards, custom gauges, a new steering wheel and a Nismo shift knob.

If Nissan ever got into restomodding, this is what we’d want to see in their showrooms.

## Ford Racing R125 Mustang

Ford took a similar approach to Nissan with its Ford Racing R125 Mustang, but used currently available parts to build the modernised pony car.

With a livery paying tribute to Henry Ford’s race-winning ‘Sweepstakes’ machine, this Mustang is a 1966 model, though with little of its original mechanicals left.

Powered by Ford Racing’s small-block 347ci (5.7-litre) crate V8, the Edelbrock electronic fuel-injected engine produces 268kW and 542Nm to be a healthy street cruiser, complete with a new Tremec TKX-600 five-speed manual transmission.

All the parts used for the modernisation of the Mustang are available through Ford Racing.

## Jeep Wrangler Scrambler SRT Concept

Last but not least, Jeep has previewed its next off-road flagship, taking the covers off the [Wrangler Scrambler SRT Concept](https://torquecafe.com/car-news-jeep-wrangler-scrambler-concept-srt-revealed/).

Harking back to the classic CJ-8 Scrambler from Jeep’s AMC days, the new concept blends off-road performance with utilitarian practicality.

Based on the platform of the Jeep Wrangler, the Scrambler is a two-door with a removable roof, giving endless amounts of headroom, though there’s just as much space out back, where the rear end has received a ute/pickup conversion.

However, the selling point of the SRT Wrangler Scrambler concept is what’s under the skin.

Powered by a 6.4-litre Hemi V8 engine, the 350kW and 637Nm outputs are understood to continue to be sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Independent front suspension has been fitted to the Scrambler in what is a first for a Wrangler, providing up to 25.5cm of wheel travel. At the rear, a trophy-truck-style straight axle provides 38.1cm of travel, with both ends developed with off-road racing champion Casey Currie.

While not confirmed for production just yet, the Wrangler Scrambler is expected to launch in the coming years, as it was recently included in an SRT product roadmap, being one of 10 SRT vehicles to be on sale in North America by 2030.
