GM rebrands Holden’s part business

GM Trade Parts is the new name for Holden’s trade part club

The Holden name continues to disappear from the Australian automotive scene, with confirmation that the Holden Trade Club will get a new name.

Currently providing a trade-only supply of parts to 28,000 members around the country, General Motors has decided to re-name the program – GM Trade Parts. However, it’s important to note that it will still provide parts for Holdens to independent mechanics, as well as ACDelco and Chevrolet components.

“With over 1.6 million Holdens still on the road, there’s huge demand for Holden Genuine Parts in automotive workshops today,” explained Holden’s director of aftersales, Paul Rietveld. “Holden has made a commitment to its customers to continue supplying Holden parts for at least the next decade, and the launch of GM Trade Parts reinforces this assurance to the automotive repair trade in both Australia and New Zealand.”

TOP 5: Models GMSV should offer in Australia

The news comes after General Motors announced earlier this year that it would close the Holden brand and instead sell limited models in Australia under the GM Specialty Vehicles banner.

GMSV will be a partnership with General Motors and Walkinshaw Automotive Group (WAG) to supply right-hand drive Chevrolet Corvettes and Silverado 1500 and 2500 (which will be converted to right-hand drive by WAG), beginning later in 2020.

The GM Trade Parts logos will be displayed on the Red Bull Holden Racing Team Commodores for the remainder of the 2020 Supercars season.
