Toyota has given its homologation special GR Yaris a fresh look and added an automatic transmission for 2024. The pint-sized pocket rocket that was designed to help the Japanese giant’s World Rally Championship program and this is its first major update since 2020.
The key changes include tweaks to the exterior design as well as a much-needed overhaul of the cabin. But the most notable change is the introduction of an eight-speed automatic gearbox (with the six-speed manual still available too).

The other big news is the 1.6-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine now makes 224kW of power and 400Nm of torque – up from 200kW/370Nm pre-facelift.
The GR Yaris features a unique three-door body, which the company created in order to maximise its WRC chances, with the rest of the mainstream/non-performance Yaris range utilising a five-door body.
