Ken Block has become a motorsport hero with his tyre-frying antics in rally, rallycross and his famous Gymkhana video series. And it seems his daughter, Lia, has been watching closely.
The younger Block has just taken over driving duties in arguably her dad’s most famous car – the 1400hp twin-turbo V8 Ford Mustang ‘Hoonicorn’ – for the Hoonigan YouTube channel’s latest season of ‘Hoonicorn vs The World’.
As with the first season, the challenge is simple – a best-of-three drag racing contest between the Hoonicorn and any driver and car brave enough to challenge. But this time Ken has stepped aside (thanks to his new deal with Audi) and handed the Hoonicorn to Lia.
The catch is, Lia is only 14 years old, and 1400hp is a lot of power at any age.
But Block Senior is a responsible ‘Hoonigan’ and has sent Lia to learn the art of drag racing from NHRA ace Leah Pruett. This is on top of her racing in karting and ATV off-road since she was 11, as well as drifting lessons from both her dad and US drift legend Vaughn Gittin Jr.
The Hoonigan team didn’t make it easy for her first race though, lining her up against NHRA champion Alex Laughlin and his 4000hp Chevrolet Corvette. Check out how she did in the video below.
