Forget what you think you know about electric utes, because Ford’s latest creation will blow your mind.
Featuring carbon composite bodywork, Fox shock absorbers, 37-inch tyres and 438kW of power, the Ford F-150 Lightning Switchgear is not some mild-manner, eco-warrior. Instead, it’s a high-power, maximum fun having one-of-a-kind creation from Ford Performance and RTR Vehicles; the same company behind Ken Block’s 1967 Mustang ‘Hoonicorn’ and the Mustang Mach-E 1400.

RTR Vehicles is run by American drifting legend, Vaughn Gittin Jr and specialises in creating unusual but exciting machines. The Switchgear is part of Ford’s range of ‘Demonstrator’ vehicles that showcase its electric powertrains and performance capabilities. Other Demonstrators include the Mach-E 1400, SuperVan 4, Mustang CobraJet 1400 and F-100 Eluminator.
Ford says the Switchgear will make its public debut at the King of the Hammers off-road event later in January but has hinted it also has improved on-road potential that will be demonstrated later.
