Tony D’Alberto has a reason to celebrate before he’s even hit the track this weekend. The Dick Johnson Racing co-driver has a day job as managing director of Centaur Products, a leading supplier of custom solutions for commercial use and caravans.
One of Centaur’s most successful products is the prisoner transport pods used by the Victorian Police, but the company also offers specialised solutions for spray painting, metal fabrication and composite materials. It has expanded its range further recently with the launch of the Proback Service Body, a new customisable addition for the back of utes that the company claims offers a full fit out solution across any industry.
To celebrate the launch of the product, D’Alberto made the trip to Bathurst for this weekend’s Great Race in the first production example of the Proback.
“It’s really exciting to launch Centaur’s Proback Service Bodies,” D’Alberto said.
“We have been working on getting this program up and running for the past 12 months and we are very proud of what we have designed, engineered and built – all in-house.
“It’s great to see our first vehicle complete and I couldn’t think of a better maiden voyage. The response within the industry has been really encouraging and we already have a solid order bank for the Proback. It is a fantastic start, and a terrific endorsement of the Centaur’s reputation within the automotive industry.”
Now that his Monday to Friday work is done, D’Alberto will share the #11 Shell V-Power Ford Mustang with Anton De Pasquale this weekend, with the pair both looking for their first win in the country’s biggest motor race.
