Looking for the ideal Christmas present for your friend who hates SUVs but needs a spacious way to transport four people in luxury? Good news, the updated Audi S8 has arrived in Australia.
Despite the introduction of the Q8 SUV and all-electric e-tron, the A8/S8 sedan remains a flagship for the four-ring brand. Jeff Mannering, the recently-appointed director of Audi Australia, revealed the updated model to Australia media at a recent event and explained its significance.
“The new Audi S8 is in rarefied air at the pinnacle of our model range,” Mannering said. “The Audi S8 is one of those truly special vehicles that is revered by many, but only owned by a few.”
The S8 is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, making 420kW of power and 800Nm of torque, with a 48-volt electrical system that provides mild hybrid technology. This engine is powerful enough for this limousine to sprint from 0-100km/h in just 3.8 seconds and run to a limited top speed of 250km/h.
The new S8 is priced from $273,400 (plus on-road costs).
The new A8 includes both standard and long-wheelbase variants, powered by a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel with mild hybrid for 210kW/600Nm while sipping only 6.7-litres per 100km.
The A8 is priced from $202,700 and the A8 LWB starts at $222,700 and both feature upgraded specification levels compared to the previous model.
