Ordinarily letting an aftermarket company tinker with your Porsche is probably not a good idea. After all, the team from Stuttgart are experts in their field, with 70 years of creating and fine-tuning some of the world’s best sports cars.
But Manthey Racing is not an ordinary aftermarket company, it’s the German giant’s European racing partner – responsible for a string of victories at the blue ribbon Nurburgring 24-hours, in Porsche Supercup and at Le Mans.
It’s also majority owned by Porsche AG, so it’s technically less ‘aftermarket’ and more pseudo-factory upgrades.
All of which means the latest range of updated parts for the 911 GT2 RS (991.2 generation) are worthy of attention.
While subtle in many respects, the Manthey Racing changes are designed with track performance in mind, not looking flashy.
For starters there’s a new 3/4-way adjustable coilover suspension kit to tweak the ride. There’s also changes to the braking systems, with a new MR brake pad and braided brake lines for superior stopping power.
The aerodynamic package of the already big-winged GT3 RS has been overhauled with new aero flaps on the front guards, a new rear wing support and side plates as well as carbon fibre gurney flap, engine deck cover and mounting brackets.
Manthey Racing is also offering a new magnesium wheel package and optional carbon fibre aero disc wheel covers to complete its track-inspired modifications.
The company has taken lessons from the previously offered 911 GT2 RS MR package, that was used to set a new Nurburgring Nordschliefe production car lap record.
Porsche Centre Melbourne and Doncaster are both an official Manthey Racing kit suppliers in Australia (and will install), offering all available packages, which also includes the GT3 MR and Cayman GT4 MR.
