Hyundai i30 Fastback N Limited Edition

Hyundai’s range of N performance models is getting bigger and bigger.

Just weeks after unveiling the all-new i30 Sedan N, Hyundai Australia has confirmed it will offer a limited edition of the i30 Fastback N. It will create a three-pronged i30 N range, with the Sedan and Fastback joining the updated hatchback that’s due to arrive in showrooms at the end of the month.

The three i30 models will be backed up by the WRC-inspired i20 N and high-riding Kona N SUV later this year as Hyundai pushes to add some excitement to its showrooms and leverage its motorsport programs in both rally and TCR competition.

Hyundai Australia was expected to focus on the hatch and sedan with the European-designed Fastback always set for a minor role. There will be a maximum of 500 examples of the five-door liftback available locally, which will get the same upgrades as the hatch.

That means a 206kW/392Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine mated to either a six-speed manual or new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Hyundai says the new engine, which has 4kW and 39Nm more punch than the out-going model, also features a new “flat-power tune” that makes it more responsive across the rev range. As such, the i30 Fastback N makes maximum torque between 2100-4700rpm.

The i30 Fastback N Limited Edition will also get the new 19-inch forged alloy wheels, N Light Sports Bucket seats and bigger front brakes. The ride and handling package has also been tweaked for this new model, featuring elements of Australia’s unique tuning that has been adopted for all i30 N models across the world.

Pricing for the i30 Fastback N Limited Edition starts at $49,000 for the manual and $52,000 for the DCT (both priced exclude on-road costs). The Fastback is available for order until September 31 or until the 500 unit cap has been reached.
