BMW has taken the covers off its track-ready take on its latest sports coupe – the M4 CSL.
A famous nameplate for the brand, the CSL (which stands for Competition, Sport, Lightweight) badge denotes increased performance and less weight as the hallmarks of this new variant. BMW Australia has confirmed this new model will arrive in Australia in the fourth quarter of 2022 and will be priced from $303,900 (plus on-road costs).
That’s a hefty $132,400 premium on the M4 Competition xDrive, but for the extra money you do get some appealing new elements. The 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder engine now makes 405kW of power, up from 375kW in the M4 Competition, but torque remains the same at 650Nm.
To live up to the name, BMW’s M division has stripped 100kg of weight from the car. One of the biggest reductions is the removal of the back seats, with the space now used as helmet storage.
BMW claims the new M4 CSL will run 0-100km/h in just 3.7 seconds and has lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in just 7:15.677.
