How much will the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 cost in Australia?

2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Chevrolet has revealed pricing and specification details for the new Corvette Z06 – and we’ve run the numbers to give you a guide to what you can expect when it arrives in Australia.

The American brand revealed its new track-tuned ‘Vette late last year, introducing the new LT6 engine – a 5.5-litre V8 engine with a flat-plane crankshaft design that provides a European supercar-like exhaust note. The LT6 was developed for the C8.R race car and has been tuned for road use to make 500kW of power and 623Nm of torque.

The Z06 has been designed as a step above the C8 Stingray and to appeal to those who enjoy regular racetrack visits in their Corvette. To that end the Z06 features a new aerodynamic package as standard with an optional ‘Carbon Aero package’ that adds a larger splitter and big rear wing.

General Motors Specialty Vehicles haven’t confirmed local pricing and specification, and won’t until the car is closer to arriving in local showrooms; likely very late in 2022 or in early 2023. However, with US pricing now announced we can take an educated guess about what we can expect.

Looking at the 2023 model year Corvette 2LT that GMSV has confirmed for Australia, it costs $159,900 (plus on-road costs) which is a 37 per cent increase on its US price. Applying that same logic to the Z06, the starting price of US$106,395 would work out to approximately $215,000.

That would seemingly position it safely above the MY23 Corvette Stingray, which tops out at $175,500 for the 3LT Coupe and $189,900 for the 3LT Convertible.

However, it’s important to note that this calculation doesn’t take into account any currency fluctuations between when GMSV locked in pricing and at the time of publication, as well as any potential specification differences. For example, all Australian examples of the Stingray come with the Z51 Package as standard even though it’s an option in the US.

In the US Chevrolet is offering the Z06 with a number of options and packages. In addition to the previously mentioned Carbon Aero package (which costs US$8495 or approx. $12,500) there’s also the Z07 package. It can only be added if you get the aero upgrade and costs US$8995 (approx. $13,250) but adds carbon ceramic brakes, a new suspension tune, extra underbody aero strakes and Michelin Pilot Cup 2R tyres. Another notable option if you tick the other two boxes are carbon fibre wheels, which add another US$9995 (approx. $14,700) for painted versions and $US11,995 (approx. $17,600) for the exposed carbon type.
