BMW has launched a new lineup of M Performance upgrades for the M2 and M2 CS in Germany, previewing potential parts which could come to Australia.
Available for the most affordable BMW M car in the lineup, the new M Performance Track kit for the base sports coupe adds a front splitter, wheel arch diffusers, and a GT racing-style swan-neck rear wing, all of which greatly increases the amount of downforce the car produces.
On top of this, there’s more ducting for the engine oil cooler, height and ride-adjustable suspension – with the ability to be lowered by up to 20mm, and with four-way rebound and compression settings – plus adjustable support bearings.

There are no added outputs to the M2’s twin-turbo 3.0-litre straight-six engine, which makes 353kW and 550Nm with a six-speed manual transmission, or 600Nm with the eight-speed automatic.
BMW has priced this kit from €23,500 (A$38,890) in Germany, excluding taxes.
Meanwhile, the already hotter M2 CS has also received an M upgrade in the form of a new exhaust system, providing a louder bark from its 390kW and 650Nm engine.
Finished with titanium and carbon tips, the exhaust system is claimed to be about 8kg lighter than the standard-fit unit, though its price of more than €8340 (A$13,800) excluding installation means its not designed to make the car faster – rather its purpose is to deliver a better driving experience.
The BMW M2 CS last year set the lap record for ‘compact’ cars at the Nürburgring, recording a time of seven minutes and 25.534 seconds around the Nordschleife, all without the most recent upgrades.
