Sales of electrified vehicles have exploded in Australia in the wake of recent fuel supply and price concerns, but even as these fears have alleviated, it’s still a red-hot environment amongst the three plug-in hybrid ute contenders.

The BYD Shark 6, GWM Cannon Alpha PHEV and Ford Ranger Hybrid (formerly known as the PHEV) are continuing to do battle in a win for consumers, with all three utes the subject of discounts and deals in Australia.

For the Shark 6, the most popular plug-in hybrid vehicle of all time in Australia is currently offered with a $2500 cashback discount by BYD nationally, exclusive to its entry-level Dynamic cab-chassis and mid-range Premium pickup offerings.

Though it doesn’t change the list prices of $55,900 and $57,900 before on-road costs, respectively, the cashback offer takes the $2500 figure off the final drive-away price, while widening the gap to the flagship Performance ($62,900).

The cab-chassis Shark 6 has only just joined the pack, along with the Performance which features a larger engine and greater towing capacity to match Australia’s best-selling utes.

BYD’s deal is applicable to Shark 6s ordered during July and delivered to customers by August 30.

GWM Cannon Alpha PHEV

GWM is running a pair of offers for the Cannon Alpha PHEV, giving customers the choice of $4000 off the drive-away price or a finance deal of a 1.99 per cent p.a. comparison rate, on a three year term with $0 deposit, no balloon payments, and no establishment or accounting fees.

The former offer brings the nationwide drive-away price of the Cannon Alpha PHEV Lux down to $57,490, while the Ultra is reduced to $64,490.

Finally, the Ranger Hybrid’s deal also stretches across two variants of the ute, applicable to pre-MY26 update versions of the XLT and Sport.

Ford Ranger Hybrid

Priced from $62,000 and $66,000 drive-away respectively, the deals have now been running since April, though they now include the added bonus of a $3000 deposit contribution when purchased through Ford Finance.

It’s worth noting the updated Ford Ranger Hybrid is due in showrooms imminently, with the Sport priced identically to the current offer.

As reported earlier this week, Ford has been going hard on deals across the range, particularly the core Ranger and Everest lineup.
