Most Formula 1 fans best know Martin Brundle as the man behind the microphone, the long-time co-lead caller of the sport for three decades, but it’s easy to forget his successful racing career.

From scoring nine podiums at the highest echelon of motorsport, to winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Daytona, Brundle had a successful stint racing before turning to commentating, and now his own daughter has revealed an automotive tribute to him.

California-based Porsche modifiers Gunther Werks this week revealed the Brundle Edition Turbo, designed by Charlie Brundle, who previously worked for McLaren, Aston Martin and Jaguar.

Limited to five examples, the Brundle Edition Turbo is finished in a two-tone hand-painted pearl livery, inspired by Martin’s racing helmet, sweeping from white on the front bumper to a majority blue finish.

Additional exterior touches include its smoked front LED indicators and rear taillights, one-off forged magnesium wheels – etched with Brundle branding – as well as unique rear decklid lettering and exclusive ‘Brundle Edition’ door sills.

Inside there’s even more themes honouring the elder Brundle, including his famous quote, “The most important bit of the car is the nut holding the steering wheel,”, featuring prominently on the dash alongside his helmet insignia.

The headrests incorporate an ‘MB’ monogram which was personalised by Charlie, while the dashboard’s end plates are also hand-signed by Martin.

“Designing a car that celebrates my father’s racing career has been an incredibly personal experience,” said Charlie Brundle.

“Growing up surrounded by motorsport, I’ve always admired his passion and dedication. To translate that legacy into a design that reflects both his achievements and our relationship as father and daughter is something truly special.

“It’s a rare opportunity to bring our two worlds together in a way that feels authentic to us both.”

Based on the 993-generation Porsche 911, the Gunther Werks Brundle Edition Turbo is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-litre flat-six engine, capable of producing 641kW and 814Nm, driving the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.

The Sport and Track calibrations of the dampers were refined by Brundle, while the Brembo carbon-ceramic brake discs and forged billet calipers help bring the circa-1250kg car back down to safer speeds.

“I’ve spent my entire life driving the most advanced machinery in the world,” said Martin Brundle.

“For me, one of the most unique aspects of a Gunther Werks vehicle is that, despite having extreme race car performance, it is remarkably civilized and usable too.

“To collaborate with Gunther Werks and to have my daughter lead the design means this project is deeply personal. We’ve poured our collective experience from the driver’s seat, the paddock and the design studios into this car.”

All five examples will include a Bell HP77 Formula 1-homologated helmet, finished in a livery matching that of the car.
