Disqualified Audi R8 driver tests positive for drugs
One 30-year-old former P-plater has learnt the hard way that there’s better ways to keep attention away from yourself than by driving a supercar.
If you were driving unlicensed with multiple warrants out for your arrest, it’s unlikely you’d pick an Audi R8 as the car to run about in – unless you’re this guy.
New South Wales City East Highway Patrol officers pulled over an Audi R8 V10 for roadside testing on July 30, at which point the supercar’s 30-year-old driver produced a Western Australian licence.
However, the licence was found out to be a fake, while his roadside drug testing returned a positive result to cocaine and methamphetamine, earning him a trip to the Mascot Police Station while under arrest.
There, he told police he had four outstanding arrest warrants against his name, and was the holder of a disqualified C Class ‘P2’ Provisional Licence (green P-plates), which was due to be lifted on August 13, 2026.
Further drug testing once again produced positive results to cocaine and methamphetamine, which are currently being lab tested.
At the end of the ordeal, he was charged with driving whilst disqualified (his second such offence), and unlawfully possessing a fake Australian driving licence with the intent to deceive.
New South Wales Police have been able to drug test drivers since 2018, while since September 18, they’ve been able to place motorists who return a positive roadside oral test under arrest.
