Collections Unveiled – The Stable

Collection #2 brings us to Brisbane, Australia; where residing in a private collection sits some of the most special Prancing Horses in existence. With a smattering of (very special) differing marques, we talk to Matt from Latimore Motors about his garage.

When I was about 15 years old, our family hosted an Italian exchange student from Modena, Italy; the home of Ferrari. When he came over, as a gift for me he brought with him a Ferrari cap, a green Ferrari singlet and a poster of the Ferrari F40.

I still have the cap to this day!

All of the cars we have here are different, and each with their own unique personality. Manuals, paddle shift, V8, V12, unique sounds, handling characteristics. Each car provides its own individual visual, emotional and physical enjoyment when driving.

Perhaps surprisingly, my favourite out of the lot is the 458 Speciale.

It’s the last naturally aspirated V8 Ferrari ever made, and a wonderful mix of fix, noise, technology, handling and pace. Driving it is indescribable, it just instils such emotion and passion. Cars like the F40 and the Enzo have their own charming points, don’t get me wrong, but the Speciale is just a perfectly balanced car for me.

Each piece of this collection is special, from the C63, the GT2, through all of the Ferraris and into the original C1 Corvette – which was the first generation of Corvette produced by Chevrolet.

However, for me and from a history perspective in this group of cars, the F40 takes the cake. My earliest and fondest automotive memory was receiving that poster of the F40 when I was 15 years old. It sparked the Ferrari passion for me. The F40 was the last Ferrari signed off by Enzo Ferrari himself, and was the first road car to ever break the 200mph barrier.

It absolutely deserves its legendary status amongst the greats.

The 812 Superfast is honestly one of the most incredible modern supercars. V12. Nearly 800hp. Unbelievable.

The Ferrari 488 – 70th Anniversary Edition

Lighter, more powerful than the standard F430; and designed to compete with the likes of the Gallardo Superleggera and the Porsche RS models, the F430 Scuderia was a force to be reckoned with in its time, and still demands attention in its presence.
