Mercedes-Benz recalls its most expensive cars in Australia
Both the Mercedes-Maybach and the Mercedes-Benz versions of the S-Class have been recalled due to a brake fluid leak.
Mercedes-Benz Australia has recalled 192 examples of the S-Class, including in Maybach guise, after it was discovered the front brake hoses could leak fluid.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the front axle brake hoses may become damaged over time. If this occurs it could lead to a brake fluid leak resulting in reduced braking performance," the carmaker said in its recall notice.
“A reduction in braking performance could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

The recall impacts examples of the S-Class built between 2022 and 2024, with a full list of affected Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) available here.
When new, the Mercedes-Maybach S680 was priced from $576,600 before on-road costs, making it the dearest car the brand sold in Australia at the time.
Mercedes-Benz has told owners to contact their preferred dealer to have the work carried out, free of charge.
