Richard Hammond fined after speeding twice in a month
Former Top Gear and The Grand Tour presenter Richard Hammond has copped two fines for speeding in less than a month late last year.
Richard Hammond once almost broke the UK’s land speed record in a jet-powered drag car, and almost 20 years on he’s continued to go fast – much to the ire of local police.
As first reported by The Guardian, Hammond – best known for co-hosting Top Gear and The Grand Tour alongside Jeremy Clarkson and James May – was caught speeding in a Porsche Taycan on December 2, 2025.
According to West Mercia Police, the Taycan was travelling at 68mph (109km/h) in a 50mph (80km/h) zone on the A40 in Pencraig, Herefordshire by a police officer using a handheld speed camera.
Just 20 days later on December 22, he was then detected at 82mph (131km/h) in a 70mph (113km/h) zone of the A50 in Rudhall, Herefordshire, this time by an overhead camera while driving a Bentley Continental GT.
The two speeding fines were reportedly sent to Hammond’s home and farm estate but marked as “addressee gone away”, before it was sent to his other residence.
In total, Hammond was issued seven penalty points (with a maximum of 12 before licences are suspended) and fined £1771 ($3390).
After wrapping up his time with Clarkson and May on their motoring programs, Hammond has continued to create automotive content with his daughter Izzy on Drivetribe.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Hammond's famous crash in the Vampire dragster, which occurred on September 20, 2006 and saw the presenter placed in a medically induced coma as a result of the incident.
