‘The Grand Tour’ relaunch date with new presenters confirmed
For the first time, Amazon Prime Video’s ‘The Grand Tour’ will be aired without Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, as a new trio fill their shoes.
Mark down September 4 in your calendars, because ‘The Grand Tour’ is coming back to screens on Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service.
Set to be the seventh season of the show, it’ll be the first to not include Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, who starred in their final feature-length special – One for the Road – in September 2024.
The trio had worked together for the best part of 21 years since first teaming up on season two of the reborn ‘Top Gear’ in 2003, until they departed the BBC in 2015 and were picked up by Amazon to start ‘The Grand Tour’ in 2016.
In their place will be a new trio of presenters: Thomas Holland and James Engelsman from automotive YouTube channel Throttle House, and Francis Bourgeois, famous for his train-spotting videos but also a renowned revhead, owning a Honda Civic Type R engine-swapped Jazz, and a Mercedes-Benz SL320.
The new iteration of ‘The Grand Tour’ will still be executive produced by Andy Wilman, who led the revival of ‘Top Gear’ and is a long-time collaborator with Clarkson – the latter of whom has given the new presenters his blessing and endorsement.
The new season will feature six episodes, and see the trio travel across the world to explore automotive cultures, following a familiar formula.
It isn’t the first time Clarkson, Hammond and May have left a series but the show has gone on, as Top Gear continued following their departure in 2015.
A revolving door of hosts followed, though Top Gear found its feet from 2019 when cricket star Freddie Flintoff, comedian Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris became its three main presenters.
Top Gear was officially axed last year, following a crash which left Flintoff with multiple facial injuries.
