Z/B 4.4

The recipe of turning old Porsche 911s into restomodded, modernised vehicles is a popular one, and now Melbourne-based Zeigler/Bailey is one step closer to offering its example to the world.

Revealed late last year, the Z/B 4.4 is based on the 1976 to 1989 ‘G-series’ 911, re-engineered in Melbourne, with almost none of the sports car’s original parts remaining.

From a new steel tub to carbon-fibre body panels, adjustable suspension (MacPherson strut at the front, multi-link at the rear) and Brembo brakes, everything under the skin has been reworked to bring the 911 into the modern age.

Even the Fuchs-style wheels are forged aluminium and include modern 911 GT-style centre lock nuts, though as with all great Porsches, the party piece is at the back.

As the name suggests, the Z/B 4.4 is powered by a 4.4-litre flat-six engine, now running a billet aluminium block and heads to put out 300kW and 500Nm, delivered via a Haltech ECU.

Priced from $1.6 million – not including the owner-supplied donor car – it’s cheaper than the Singers which have made the restomodding process so famous within the 911 community, and now it’s opened up to the rest of the world.

Zeigler/Bailey has announced The Automotive Advisory Group (TAAG) will serve as its official sales partner for Z/B 4.4 commissions, keeping all of the administration process within Australia.

“TAAG’s role is to lead global customer engagement, bespoke commission and specification guidance, and the end-to-end sales and ownership journey, from first enquiry through to handover,” Zeigler/Bailey said in a media release.

“TAAG will work closely with founders John Zeigler and Greg Bailey to focus on ensuring that every Z/B 4.4 is not just engineered with intent but commissioned with meaning.”
