BMW M goes green for Nürburgring’s 100th birthday

With the Nürburgring set to turn 100 in 2027, a number of German brands are doing what they can to mark the occasion, with BMW now revealing nine bespoke vehicles as its tribute to the track.

A joint celebration by BMW M (the performance car division) and BMW M Motorrad (the fast motorcycle arm), the 100 Jahre Nürburgring editions have been revealed as tributes to the track known as ‘The Green Hell’.

Available on the BMW M2, M3 sedan, M3 Touring wagon, M4 coupe, M5 sedan and M5 Touring wagon, the cars score special liveries consisting of “100 Years” and “Nürburgring since 1927” logos, as well as unique green colour schemes which on some examples extends to the kidney grille and wheels.

It’s a similar story for the bikes, with the M1000RR, M1000R and M1000XR all getting the M Track Package as standard, as well as Nürburgring Green paint, anniversary decals, carbon wheels, black rear swingarm and rear frame, and a seat in Alcantara look with “100” embroidery.

Each of the bikes also have an airbox cover with the anniversary design and “one of 100” logos, marking their exclusivity.

“The Nürburgring is much more than just a racetrack for us – it is a second home for BMW M,” said BMW M CEO, Frank van Meel. 

“All our production vehicles are put through their paces on the Nordschleife. With the Edition 100 Jahre Nürburgring, we celebrate our long-standing and successful relationship with the Nürburgring.”

“The Nordschleife has been part of the DNA of our M models for years,” said BMW Motorrad CEO, Markus Flasch. 

“With our special models for the 100th anniversary of the Nürburgring, we pay tribute to a place that has made motorsport history and, to this day, shapes the connection between racetrack and road like no other.”

The unveiling of the nine vehicles comes after Porsche revealed its own tribute last month in the 911 GT3 100 Jahre Nürburgring.
