Porsche supercar to use Lamborghini, Audi bones - report
The next flagship Porsche has been tipped to lean on the underpinnings of the Lamborghini Temerario and Audi Nuvolari.
Porsche is a brand in recovery at the moment, getting down to what it knows best by leaning into its high-profit products, and it has previously suggested a new flagship will act as its north star in the not-too-distant future.
Earlier this year, Porsche CEO Michael Leiters announced the brand’s plans to offer more models in a bid to cover a wider market, with vehicles at a higher premium than the 911 and Cayenne expected to lead the charge.
“We are considering the expansion of our product portfolio in order to grow in higher-margin segments. In doing so, we are looking at models and derivatives both above our current two-door sports cars and above the Cayenne,” Leiters said in March.
Now, Automotive News reports there could be an obvious piece of the puzzle sitting in the wings, claiming the next Porsche supercar would likely use the platform of the Lamborghini Temerario and Audi Nuvolari to save costs.
The Temerario was unveiled in 2024 and launched last year as the new ‘baby’ Lamborghini supercar, taking the place of the V10 Huracan, now with a twin-turbo V8 engine and plug-in hybrid system.
Earlier this year, Audi revealed the Nuvolari as a pseudo successor to the R8 supercar, based on the Temerario – just like the R8 was related to the Gallardo and Huracan – but limited to just 499 examples.
With a supercar platform already existing, it’s an easier business case for Porsche to create a supercar, given the reduced development costs and time, however it has traditionally gone its own way for its flagships.
The 959, Carrera GT and 918 Spyder were all bespoke vehicles, sharing next to no parts with other models from the Volkswagen Group, or even from within the Porsche model range.
It’s possible Porsche’s Temerario/Nuvolari based model could be even more extreme, as the brand has said its above-911 halo car is more likely to be a hypercar.
“We cannot detail the mentioned statement since Porsche is in the middle of an analysis phase for its future product portfolio,” a Porsche spokesperson said earlier this year when asked by Motor1 for details on its new flagship.

“Flagship projects like the Porsche 959, Carrera GT, or 918 Spyder are part of our DNA. We continue to invest in high-performance sports cars. One example is the recently presented 911 Turbo S.
“Additionally, we are currently evaluating various vehicle concepts in the GT and hypercar segment. We will decide based on the wishes of our customers, who are always our focus.”
While Porsche already has a road-going hypercar in the 963 RSP, this was limited to just one example built for Roger Penske, meaning a series production model is still waiting to be launched.
