‘Fast and Furious’ star coming to Australian car show
Sung Kang, famous for playing Han in the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise, is coming to Australia in November to promote his new film, ‘Drifter’.
Australian modified car show Compello is returning in November 2026, and it’s booked a Hollywood star to take part in proceedings.
Run by the same outfit behind the Melbourne Motor Show which was revived in 2025, Compello returns for the first time since 2024, announcing Sung Kang as the show’s star alongside its circa-60 car builds.
Kang has portrayed Han Lue (aka Han Seoul-Oh) in the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise since 2006’s ‘The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift’, appearing in six additional films so far.
While his character was immersed in Japan’s drift culture, Kang himself is bringing drifting to the wider world once again, with his film ‘Drifter’ making its international debut earlier this month.
Directed, written and produced by Kang, ‘Drifter’ also sees him take on the role of the protagonist, while also starring key figures from the world of drifting, such as Dai Yoshihara, Chelsea DeNofa, Adam LZ, and Australia’s Luke Fink.
There’s no Australian release date for ‘Drifter’ just yet, however Compello says Kang’s appearance at the show will coincide with the Australian launch of the film, expected to take place in late November.
Tickets for Compello will be released on October 1, with the show itself taking place across November 21-22 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
