The McLaren Senna GTR is not your average car, so naturally you don’t buy one in your average car dealership.
Indeed, most exotic supercars are hard to come by and need well-connected people to get access to cars like the Senna, Porsche 911 GT1 and Ferrari FXX. Which is why Yasser Shahin, owner of The Bend Motorsport Park, has opened a new “boutique trading house” for supercars and rare racing machines, Pit Lane Garage.
It will operate at the South Australian track and will give prospective owners the chance to not just see the cars up close but actually drive them in anger on the circuit, to really appreciate what they’re buying.
“The Bend Motorsport Park is about offering the best of the best and the new Pit Lane Garage is no different,” said Shahin.
“We are in an incredible position to offer an experience to people that can range from just seeing these cars in the metal, cars they would not see anywhere else in Australia, to driving them on track for the full experience.”
The Senna GTR is the first featured vehicle for Pit Lane Garage, headlining its official opening and starring in a short film to launch the venture; with cameo appearances by a ‘regular’ McLaren Senna and McLaren P1.
McLaren only made 75 Senna GTR, and the one offered by Pit Lane Garage is the 24th produced and one of only three in the South Hemisphere. Not only that, but it’s finished in a special livery paying tribute to Ayrton Senna’s 1988 World Championship in the McLaren MP4/4.
The Senna GTR is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 making 606kW of power and 800Nm of torque. It can launch 0-100km/h in just 2.5 seconds and has a top speed of more than 340km/h.
