Method Race Wheels claims outright wins at Finke and Baja 500
Method Race Wheels has enjoyed one of its most dominant weekends in recent memory, with racers running the brand's wheels taking outright honours at both the Finke Desert Race in Australia and the Baja 500 in Mexico.
The twin victories, achieved on opposite sides of the Pacific just days apart, underline the American wheel manufacturer's growing footprint in top-level off-road competition — and the strength of its Australian arm, which has been steadily building its presence in the local desert racing scene.
Robinson conquers Finke
At the Finke Desert Race, run over the King's Birthday long weekend from Alice Springs to the remote Finke community and back, Travis Robinson took outright victory in the Extreme 4WD class on Method wheels.
The brand's success ran deep through the field. Mikey Zacka won the Pro Buggy class, Ben Falk took Prolite Buggy honours, and Method-equipped racers locked out the entire SXS Pro podium, with Glen Ackroyd leading home Kane Jones and Troy Behsman in a clean sweep of the class.
Finke remains one of the most punishing tests of equipment in world motorsport, with competitors hammering across roughly 460km of rutted, rocky red desert at race pace — making it a proving ground manufacturers prize for both development and marketing credibility.
McMillin goes back-to-back at the Baja 500
Across the Pacific, the SCORE International Baja 500 delivered an equally strong result. Luke McMillin claimed his second consecutive Baja 500 victory, winning the SCORE Trophy Truck 4WD class and the overall on Method wheels, with Justin Lofton fourth in class.
All told, Method racers collected six class wins and ten podium finishes in Mexico. Gustavo Vildosola Sr and Ricky Johnson combined to win the Trophy Truck Legends class, while Brendan Gaughan took Class 1 honours.
The brand's strength in the booming UTV market was also on display: Branden Sims won Pro UTV Open ahead of third-placed Ethan Groom, Kaden Wells took Pro UTV FI, and Craig Scanlon won Pro Stock UTV. Tim Herbst (Trophy Truck 2WD), Ricardo Torres (Pro UTV Naturally Aspirated) and the Hero Racing outfit (Pro Moto Unlimited) added further podiums.
Two continents, one weekend
For Method Race Wheels Australia, headquartered in Lawnton, Queensland, the results offer a powerful marketing story: outright wins in the two biggest desert races on either side of the Pacific inside a single weekend. With the SXS and UTV categories continuing to grow rapidly in both markets, podium lockouts in those classes are likely to carry particular commercial weight as the brand pushes deeper into the recreational off-road segment.
