2020 Porsche 911 Targa 4S Design Heritage Edition

Two weeks was all it took for Porsche to begin rolling out special editions of its latest model.

Meet the Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition, a tribute to the brand’s iconic models from the 1950s and ‘60s.

Proving the German brand has mastered the art of stretching its 911 range, while ensuring it remains popular, this is only the first of four Heritage Editions the company will produce.

“With the Heritage Design models, we are evoking memories of the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s in customers and fans alike,” explained Porsche chairman, Oliver Blume.

“No brand can translate these elements into the modern day as well as Porsche and, in this way, we are fulfilling the wishes of our customers.

“We are also establishing a new product line that represents the lifestyle dimension in our product strategy with these exclusive special editions.”

Only 992 examples of this model will be built globally which should ensure it becomes a sell-out when it hits the market later this year.

This initial offering is based on the brand’s new 992-generation 911 Targa 4S launched last month, the Design Edition has a number of unique styling cues to make it stand out.

The most obvious element is the new graphic package, which includes spear-shaped, motorsport-inspired elements on the front guards and the ‘Porsche’ script down the sides.

The Design Edition also features gold exterior badging in a throwback to the ‘50s models.

Owners will be able to choose from five paint choices, including the exclusive Cherry Metallic featured in these images. It will roll on staggered 20- and 21-inch Carrera Exclusive Design wheels as standard.

Inside the crest from the 1963 model line is featured on the steering wheel, as well as the key, wheel centre caps and the bonnet.

The cabin also features two-tone leather with a Bordeaux Red leather upper section combined with either a black or beige leather lower half of the dashboard.

In a very cool retro touch the seats feature the ultimate ‘50s fabric – corduroy.

The Porsche Design Heritage Edition watch

Porsche will also offer customers for the Heritage Design Edition the opportunity to buy a Porsche Design Chronograph – because what special edition sports car is complete without its own expensive watch these days.

Like the car Porsche has taken styling elements from the ‘50s with the watch, including using the same Phosphorus Green rings on the face as the car’s speedometer and tachometer.

It also includes a strap made from the same leather used to trim the interior.

The Porsche Design timepiece will only be available to Targa Heritage Design Edition owners.
