Ram Trucks Australia has confirmed what many V8 lovers had been waiting for – the return of the 1500 TRX SRT to Australian showrooms.

After being killed off as the 1500 TRX in 2024 due to production ending in the US, the door was left open for its revival after Ram’s US division revealed the new 1500 TRX SRT in January.

While Ram Australia has been tight-lipped until now about whether it’ll come back, today it announced the behemoth pickup is due to arrive in the first half of 2027.

“We know there is a lot of passion for the TRX in Australia, which is why we have worked hard to secure production out of the US for our market,” said Ram Trucks Australia general manager, Jeff Barber.

“Supply of the new TRX will initially be restricted because demand is off the charts in the US, however the factory has been incredibly supportive of the Australian market and we are pleased to confirm the TRX is coming back.”

Almost 1000 examples of the previous 1500 TRX were sold across Australia and New Zealand, with prices finishing up at $224,950 plus on-road costs for the ‘standard’ TRX, while the send-off Final Edition had a $249,950 price tag.

For its return, Ram has confirmed the 1500 TRX SRT will be priced from $259,950 before on-roads, making it the brand’s most expensive model ever sold locally.

Official specifications have yet to be confirmed, though its US spec sheet gives a hint as to what we can expect.

The 6.2-litre supercharged V8 has been wound up from 523kW and 882Nm to now produce 579kW and 922Nm, thanks to a new air induction system, redesigned front grille, and revised exhaust system.

The SRT TRX continues with an eight-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive system, with Ram claiming it can now sprint from 0-60mph (97km/h) in just 3.5 seconds, a two-tenth improvement on its predecessor, despite weighing more than 3000kg.

Under the skin, there’s Bilstein Black Hawk e2 adaptive dampers (borrowed from the 1500 RHO), a revised traction and stability control system, and a huge 35cm of suspension travel, to go along with its 18-inch wheels shod in 35-inch tyres.

A choice of six exterior colours will be available; Bright White, Diamond Black, Forged Blue, Molten Red, Serrano Green, and Spitfire Orange. All finishes excluding white will incur a $950 premium.
