Chevrolet has officially confirmed the all-new Corvette ZR-1 is coming very soon.

In a short teaser video that gives away very little information, the brand has at least confirmed it will be revealed during the American summer (June-August). However, we do have a good idea of what to expect with the ZR-1, which sits above the E-Ray and Z06 in the line-up.

It’s believed it will be powered by the new 5.5-litre V8 flat-plane crankshaft engine, codenamed LT6, which makes an already impressive 500kW of power and 623Nm of torque in the Z06. But for the ZR-1, to ensure it’s the hero model of the ‘Vette line-up, Chevrolet has reportedly added a pair of turbochargers to boost performance to a staggering 633kW and 1118Nm.

That will put the ZR-1 into world-class supercar territory, competing directly against the likes of Ferrari, McLaren and Lamborghini.
