Nico Rosberg is one of only 150 owners of the upcoming Rimac C_Two electric hypercar

Formula1 world champion turned vlogger, Nico Rosberg, has taken his new electric supercar for a test drive in his latest YouTube video.

The 2016 world champion is one of only 150 customers to have bought a Rimac C_Two – an all-electric hypercar that boasts claimed performance of 1408kW of power, 2300Nm of torque, a top speed of 412km/h and a 0-100km/h time of 2.5 seconds.

READ MORE: Who is Rimac?

Rosberg recently flew to Rimac headquarters in Croatia to meet company founder, Mate Rimac, test drive the latest prototype and complete the specification of his personal car. As you’ll see if you watch the video below, Rosberg makes Rimac nervous in his high-speed drive but he’s still proud to have the F1 ace support his project.

“For us, it’s an honour that Nico chose to become a part of the Rimac Automobili family,” Mate Rimac said. “Nico is a great guy through and through – as a driver, sustainability entrepreneur, tech lover, and future-focused individual, he understands exactly what we want to achieve with the C_Two; simply, that we want to set new standards for performance by using advanced electric technology developed entirely in-house here at Rimac Automobili. The car we have created is built almost from the ground up by the team here in Croatia. And to have one of the world’s best drivers give us the ultimate seal of approval on that design and engineering by buying one is an amazing feeling.”

While production of the C_Two has been slowed by the coronavirus pandemic, work is continuing to ramp up at its Croatian factory where it now employs more than 700 people. The company recently hired former Aston Martin and Apple special projects engineer, Chris Porritt, as Chief Technology Officer to help get production of the car underway.

Rimac is fast becoming one of the most in-demand car companies in the world. It supplies its electric motors and battery technology to Aston Martin, Koenigsegg and Pininfarina and both Porsche and Hyundai have made significant investments to become shareholders.

COMING SOON: Hyundai’s electric sports car

Volkswagen Group is reportedly considering selling the Bugatti brand to Rimac in return for a greater shareholding for Porsche in the Croatian company.

Check out the video below to see Rosberg customize his own C_Two and tour the Rimac factory.
