The new Audi RS e-tron GT has claimed a lap record for an electric car at Mt Panorama, lapping the 6.2km circuit in 2:28.15s.
Factory Audi GT driver Christopher Mies drove the production specification RS e-tron GT without any modifications except adjustments to the standard tyre pressures.
ROAD TEST: 2023 Audi RS e-tron GT review
The RS e-tron GT makes 475kW of power and 830Nm of torque and will accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 3.3 seconds. Unfortunately for Audi the time is restricted by its limited top speed of 250km/h, which meant it wasn’t able to maximise its time on the mountain’s long straights.
“The acceleration is quicker than my GT3 car,” Mies said. “I was surprised at just how quick the car is able to punch out of the corners.”
