Cadillac is the American definition of a luxury car, but now the brand is thinking globally and clearly has the likes of Rolls-Royce and Bentley in its sights.
The brand has just revealed its latest concept car, a striking all-electric convertible called the Sollei, declaring it “the ultimate design expression of a coach-built luxury electric convertible” to make its plans clear to the world. It hopes it acts as a catalyst for future bespoke luxury vehicles, like those commissioned by the wealthiest Rolls-Royce customers to meet their unique tastes.

“Sollei reimagines the discovery of travel, envisioning a personalized driving experience that connects one with the natural world around them,” explained Cadillac’s design director, Erin Crossley. “The concept celebrates Cadillac’s pedigree of elegant convertibles in a modern form by cultivating high luxury through design expressions and experiences.”
The Sollei – which is a combination of sun (Sol) and leisure (lei) – is a 2+2 convertible with classic Cadillac proportions but incorporating its latest design language and its new signature 55-inch “pillar-to-pillar” screen.
Should the Sollei make production it would join the Celestiq as a bespoke Cadillac model, built to each customer’s own demands.
Cadillac is preparing to return to the Australian market, launching the Lyriq electric SUV by the end of the year, under the General Motors Specialty Vehicles banner.
