Classic car collectors continue to pay top dollar for Holden performance cars, with Lloyds Auctions again attracting plenty of interest.
At the time of publication the company was still negotiating the sale of the centrepiece of the auction, a 1996 HSV GTSR. The bright yellow Holden is a rare creation, with the special vehicles operation only building 75 examples of the V8 Supercar-inspired sports sedan.
The last time one went across Lloyds’ auction block in September 2021 it sold for $1 million. That particular car was build number #001 and was still in the same condition it was delivered to the original owner, but the rarity and unique appeal of these cars means they will always be much sought after by Holden collectors.
Other cars that went under the hammer at Saturday’s auction included a 1977 Holden LX Torana SL/R 5000, the homologation special that the brand produced for touring car racing in the 1970s.
For blue oval fans there was this 1974 Ford Landau, a short-lived member of the brand’s local line-up. Based on the XA Falcon it was a luxury coupe that only ran from 1973 to ‘76.
There was something for American car fans too, including this 1969 Dodge Charger R/T SE.
