Move over Avis and Hertz – Porsche has begun renting cars.
A pilot program launched today in Melbourne will allow anyone (who meets Porsche’s criteria) to rent a Porsche for a day, a weekend or an entire week. The German giant already offers this service in Germany, North America and Japan and if the pilot is successful it will likely be rolled out Australia-wide in the near-future.
The initial fleet available for rent consists of a 911 Carrera S and 4S, 718 Boxster S and all-electric Taycan 4S. Pricing starts as low as $718 for the 718 Boxster S for a 24-hour loan period. Renting a 911 for an entire week will set you back $4999.
To be eligible you will need to be over the age of 27 and hold a valid, full and unrestricted Australian or international driver’s licence.
Porsche Australia CEO, Daniel Schmollinger, sees this as an evolution of the vehicle ownership experience. The German brand joins a growing list of car makers involved in rental or car-sharing programs around the world.
“Porsche Drive Rental is the latest example of us introducing innovative products to the Australian market,” said Schmollinger. “This pilot program in Melbourne will give us tremendous insights into how we evolve this offering in Australia in future years.”
