Tesla has made a name for itself with its high-performance electric vehicles. Now, one of Australia’s leading racing instructors, is offering Tesla owners a chance to learn how to drive them on the track.
Former Bathurst 1000 winner Paul Morris has started the Tesla Drive Day Experience at his Norwell Motorplex near the Gold Coast, catering to owners of the American machines – Model S, Model X and Model 3. The half-day course has been developed by Morris to appeal to Tesla owners looking to experience their cars to the full.
“It’s somewhere they can enjoy their cars with like-minded people,” Morris told Torquecafe.com.
Morris explained the driving technique required to extract the maximum range from the batteries on the road is very different to driving them to their performance limit, so the course has been tailored to helping drivers do just that.
To that end each session will be limited to 12 people to ensure each instructor can devote enough time to the drivers. The sessions will include steering technique instruction, a slalom course, skid pad work and timed laps on the circuit before a hot lap with an instructor.
The first event will be held this weekend and has already sold out, with spots for the second event on May 24 also selling fast.
