Ford Focus ST-3 is a limited edition addition to the range

Ford has added a special edition Focus ST to its range that boasts the latest technology – including the ability to ‘detect’ upcoming corners.

The new ST-3 will expand the range, sitting above the standard Focus ST, but only 200 will be available in Australia. The new model is a tech flagship but also adds a number of creature comforts.

The highlight new addition is the blue oval’s Advanced Lighting System, which uses a camera to scan the road markings and direct the adaptive headlights towards the corner, allowing the driver to get a clearer view of the road at night.

But that’s not the only added goodie. The Focus ST-3 also gets a panoramic glass roof, a head-up display and heated and electronically-adjustable Recaro sports seats on top of the standard Focus ST equipment.

“The Focus ST has attracted a passionate following, and the ST-3 supplements our highly popular Ford Performance portfolio that also includes the Fiesta ST, Mustang and Ranger Raptor,” explained Andrew Birkic, Ford Australia president and CEO. “The premium equipment levels add an extra touch of prestige to the Focus ST’s already highly regarded performance credentials, with the technology and innovation our enthusiast customers expect in a hot-hatch.”

Another new addition to the Ford Focus ST-3 are heated Recaro seats

Under the bonnet the ST-3 gets the same 2.3-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine as the standard model, still good for 206kW of power and 420Nm of torque, but it’s paired exclusively to the seven-speed automatic transmission. Other technical highlights include Ford electronic limited-slip differential and adaptive dampers, while the ST-3 rides on 19-inch alloys fitted with Pirelli P Zero rubber.

The Focus ST-3 is priced from $47,990 (plus on-road costs), a $3100 premium over the regular Focus ST.
